Instead, Apple is launching the iPhone 17 Air, a completely new device that will replace the Plus model. That is much less than the iPhone 16 series, which starts at a thickness of 7.8 millimeters. The device will not be much more compact, because the iPhone 17 Air is rumored to have a 6.6-inch display.
Thinnest iPhone ever
The thinnest iPhone Apple has ever made is currently the iPhone 6. The 2014 device was only 6.9 millimeters thick. It is almost certain that the iPhone 17 Air will be thinner, making it the thinnest iPhone ever. To achieve this, the device has to compromise on a number of functions. The camera system is simpler than that of the iPhone 16 Plus, the iPhone 17 Air reportedly only has one 48-megapixel camera.
It is not yet known what other features will be coming to the iPhone 17 Air. This means that the phone will have a starting price of less than 1229 euros.
