Are you already looking forward to iOS 17? We also! But not for all new parts. Here are the features of iOS 17 that you’re not going to use anyway.
The iOS 17 features that hardly anyone is going to use
When a new version of iOS comes out, you also get a few cool new features. Yet there are functions in iOS 17 that hardly anyone will use. You can read which ones they are below.
1. Live voicemail
In iOS 17, Apple introduces Live Voicemail feature on iPhone. This new feature allows you to leave voicemail messages in the form of a video. It’s for situations where someone won’t answer your FaceTime call, for example. This makes sending voicemail more personal than ever before.
While Live Voicemail will be available on all iPhones running iOS 17, it’s probably a feature few people will actually use. Sending a message on WhatsApp is much easier, isn’t it?
In addition, Live Voicemail is not being released worldwide and is only available in the United States and Canada. At the moment there is no information available about a possible expansion to the Netherlands in the future.
2. 3D Reactions
Another function that is secretly nice, but ultimately no one will use is the 3D reactions. Soon you will be able to show funny animations during a video call via FaceTime. You do this by making certain hand gestures and thus creating different effects. Think of hearts, confetti and fireworks.
In addition, the 3D reactions are not available on all iPhones with support for iOS 17. To use this feature, you need an iPhone 12 or later. 3D reactions are not available on the iPhone XS, iPhone XR and the iPhone 11 series anyway.
3. Siri
Unless you have a car with CarPlay, Siri is often used very little. In iOS 17 you will soon be able to call up the voice assistant with ‘Siri’ instead of ‘Hey, Siri’. But this probably won’t mean that the voice assistant will suddenly be used much more.
4. App Library
Of course, iOS 17 also includes many features that were already in iOS 16 and earlier. But here too there are a number of functions that hardly anyone uses. For example, consider the app library.
The app library can be found on the last page of your iPhone. It lists all the apps you have installed. Yet hardly anyone uses this app overview, but especially their own pages with apps. In addition, the search function is usually used to quickly find an app.
iOS 17: This is when the update comes
You still have to be patient before you can get started with iOS 17. The update will not appear until the fall. iOS 17 will be launched simultaneously with the release of the iPhone 15. This is expected to take place in the second or third week of September.
Do you already want to get started with iOS 17? You can, but then you have to install the beta version. You can read how to do that in the article below!
