Apple has already renewed a number of iPad models earlier this year, but there are rumors that more new iPads will appear in 2025.
These new iPads will be in 2025
Of course we first expect the new iPhone 17 series in September, but then new iPads will probably also appear in 2025. You can expect this.
iPad Pro
One of the iPads that will probably be released in 2025 is a new iPad Pro with the faster M5 chip. There are no striking design changes to the Pro, because that has already happened with last year’s update. We expect a few new functions.
The iPad Pro seems to be the first to get the M5 chip, which was built on a renewed 3-nanometer process. We expect some improvements in performance and efficiency. There will be 11-inch and 13-inch models with an OLED screen, possibly with two cameras on the front: one on the narrow side and one on the long side. As a result, the iPad is always in the right position for video calls, regardless of whether you use the portrait or landscape mode.
The M5 ‌IPad‌ could be on the market in October or November of this year, about a month after Apple released the new iPhone 17 models.
iPad Air
Apple is also working on a new iPad Air, which may be on the market in 2026 (but that is not yet certain). We don’t know much about the next generation iPad Air. There is a chance that it will get a screen with a refresh rate of 90 Hz, instead of 60 Hz. With this renewal, the iPad Air could be updated with an OLED screen. It is not yet clear whether Apple is planning to do that next year or only in 2027.
The M3 iPad Air was released in March 2025, so it is not very likely that a new Air model will appear before March 2026.
Ipad
We are also being worked on on a new cheap iPad, which is equipped with a renewed A18 chip. With the A18, the iPad Apple Intelligence functions will support that are not available on the current model. According to rumors, the cheap iPad will be on the market at the beginning of 2026, possibly during a spring event.
iPad mini
The iPad Mini 8 is one of the iPads that will probably only appear in 2026. Leaked code shows that the new iPad Mini gets the same A19 Pro chip as the iPhone 17 Pro models. The A19 Pro is being built on the basis of a updated 3-nanometer process, so that it offers better performance and efficiency.
Apple also develops an iPad Mini with an OLED screen, but it is not clear whether this screen will be in the iPad Mini 8, or in a future iPad Mini that will only be on the market in 2027. In the case of an OLED screen, the iPad Mini may also receive a screen size of 8.7 inches instead of 8.3 inches.
Conclusion: iPads that still appear in 2025
In 2025 we expect a new iPad Pro. Although Apple works on more iPads, as it looks now, they only appear on the market in 2026. Of course, Apple can always provide a surprise and, for example, release an affordable iPad in October or November. So it remains to be seen.
