Honda N-Box is a striking multimillionaire

Honda is doing good business with its roguish N-Box. The angular and practical Honda N-Box has been the most popular kei car in Japan for years and now the block box even breaks through the limit of 2,000,000 copies built.

Honda has sold the 2 millionth N-Box. In fact, the sales counter of the kei-car is already at 2,003,130 units. The N-Box is one of Honda’s kei cars attached to the N family. Honda’s N model line consists of the N-One (Photo 10), the N-WGN (Photo 12), the N-Van (Photo 13) and the N-Box that started the N party in 2011. The model line of the N-Box line itself also consists of the N-Box Slash (photo 11). The Slash is the extra stubborn version with a lower roof, although there is no Slash version of the current second N-Box. The Honda N-Box was introduced at the end of 2011 and was an immediate success. In its first full year of sales, 211,155 copies were sold in Japan, making it the second most popular kei car in Japan. In 2013, the N-Box settled on the kei-car throne with 234,994 units sold. Unfortunately for Honda, the N-Box lost its kei-car throne in 2014 when sales dropped to just under 180,000 units. However, as of 2015, the N-Box is Japan’s most popular kei car. Last year Honda even managed to convince 195,984 customers to purchase an N-Box and in the first five months of this year more than 93,000 units have already been sold.

The N-Box was helped to its current second generation in 2017. The second N-Box was subtly modernized in November last year. The N-WGN is barely 3.4 meters long and therefore, helped by the 658 cc large blown and turbo-less three-cylinder with which the N-Box is available, falls into the kei car category of the Japanese car market. Kei cars in Japan benefit from more tax-efficient rates than cars in higher segments, but they must meet certain requirements in terms of size and motorization. The Honda N-Box has a starting price of €10,740 in Japan. The N-Box is available with both front-wheel drive and four-wheel drive. In most cases, the N-Box has a CVT on board, although the slightly sportier RS ​​version is equipped with a six-speed manual transmission. In addition, the N-Box is also available as a more spicy Custom in addition to regular form.
