Animated stickers in Telegram
It has been possible to send stickers with Telegram for years, but with the latest update moving pictures are also added. For this you need version 5.9 of the Telegram app, which you can download from the App Store since this weekend.
Telegram says in a blog post that the moving pictures are only 20 to 30KB in size and therefore take up less space and send faster than normal photos. The animated stickers also consume less energy than gifs, which is beneficial for the battery life of your iPhone or iPad.
If you have installed the latest version of Telegram, you will see the animated stickers under a new button in the menu that also contains the normal stickers and gif images. Telegram has made a number of sticker packs available for you to download. However, the intention is that others will also make and release moving pictures. It’s an open platform, so it makes sense that a lot more animated stickers will appear in the chat app in the near future.

Recently, Telegram got another new feature. For example, it has recently become possible to add users to your contact list without sharing a phone number. You still have to enter your phone number if you want to use the app yourself.
Also new is the ‘People Near’ feature in the Contacts tab of the app. This allows you to see other users (who have also enabled the option) nearby and start chatting right away.

Pay attention: if your friends also want to receive and send animated stickers, they must also have the update installed. If you run an older version, you will not see the moving images.
