Later this year, BMW will launch the electric i4, a car where the exterior no longer holds any secrets. However, that does not apply to the interior of the i4. Until now, the first pictures of the interior of the i4 are on the street.
The unveiling of the electric BMW i4 has quite a long run-up. The i4, in fact the electric version of the yet to be presented new 4-series Gran Coupé, was shown in concept form in March last year. That Concept i4 eventually led to the i4 as it was lifted onto the podium in March this year. The exterior and technology of the electric Gran Coupé have already been extensively discussed, but thanks to various Instagram pages we can now also show you the interior of the BMW i4.
BMW i4
To be fair, we dare not call the interior of the i4 extremely surprising. The whole looks logically less futuristic than the workplace of the Concept i4, although there are certainly similarities. The i4 dashboard is very similar to that of the 4-series Coupé and Cabrio and therefore also to that of the 3-series. Yet there are differences. For example, the center console has been given a different layout. In the i4 it is done with the small digital screen that has nestled between the ventilation grilles in the 3 and 4 series. The series of buttons placed under the ventilation grilles with which you control the climate control in the i4 in the 3 and 4 series is also not to be found. The button series that is below this in the 3 and 4 series and with which you operate the audio system, among other things, has been adjusted. From now on, this includes the button for the hazard lights. The physical rotary knob for the volume and the ‘next and previous track / channel’ buttons are retained, although the latter are now located right next to the volume knob.

A bigger difference is of course higher on the dashboard. The 3 and 4 series are already available with a digital instrumentation, but in the i4 that digital clock shop is optically linked to the infotainment system. The two screens thus optically form one whole. The infotainment system is new and is a lot more robust than the screen that we currently know from the 3 and 4 series.
It could be that BMW does this more high tech The interior has been developed specifically for the i4, although it is more likely that the 3-series and 4-series Coupé and Cabrio will also be provided with this refined workplace in the long term, possibly during the LCI. The i4 will be available in various flavors. The fastest variant seems to be an M Performance model that will get a 530 hp powertrain. That i4 squeezes up to 590 kilometers from its unspecified battery pack.
