The Jaguar XE, Britain’s smallest sedan, has been with us since 2015. Since 2019, the car has been driving around in a facelifted form, albeit sparsely. What actually changed back then?

We dare to say that the vast majority of humanity thinks the Jaguar XE is quite a nice car. That is almost always the case with the products of top designer Ian Callum, who in this case was also given the grateful task of designing a compact sports sedan. You could blame the XE for simply being a small XF, because there is not much difference between the two.

If you have trouble separating an XE and an XF, you should especially look at the rear. The smaller model was clearly given different light units from the start. In the original design, the all-red lamps are remarkably large. They connect neatly to the license plate recess on the left and right, but at the same time they are placed slightly higher. At the front we see somewhat aggressive-looking xenon light units, in a rather recognizable style.

With the facelift of 2019, nothing changes in the basic ingredients. The car therefore more or less meets the description above, although the rear lights are noticeably smaller. Jaguar squeezes them more together, as it were, creating a visually wider and especially tighter car. At the front, little seems to change, but secretly more or less the same is happening. The arrival of LED headlight technology makes flatter light units possible here too, and Jaguar makes grateful use of that opportunity. A more aggressive-looking front bumper on all versions and a slightly different grille complete the picture.
