Use Animoji, Memoji and effects in FaceTime: this is how you do it

Apple has given FaceTime a major facelift with iOS 12. From now on you can spice up a video call with all kinds of graphic effects, Animoji and Memoji. In this tip you can see how it works.

Using FaceTime Animoji: this is how you do it

Apple has taken a good look at iMessage and also added some of the innovations to video calling app FaceTime. These are all hidden under a new button with a star icon on it. This works as follows.

Facetime Animoji
  1. Open the FaceTime app;
  2. Call someone for a video call;
  3. Tap the star icon next to the red button;
  4. Select an app from the bar with app icons that appears on the screen.

As soon as you tap this star, a row of FaceTime apps will appear that you can scroll through from left to right. With the apps you can, for example, stick a sticker on the screen, which then also appears on the screen of the person you are calling with.

This way you add more apps to FaceTime

When you download an iMessage app in iMessage, the apps with FaceTime support automatically appear in the video calling app. In addition to the apps that you can download from the App Store, there are also a number of standard apps from Apple in FaceTime. For example, you can add text by tapping ‘Aa’ and place animated stickers by tapping the red line and the Activity icon.

Do you have an iPhone with a Face ID camera? Then you can change your face into an Animoji or Memoji. After tapping the Animoji head, you can turn your face into all kinds of animated emoji.
