Volkswagen will present the ID5 GTX very soon. The ‘sportier’ brother of the ID4 comes directly as the top version GTX.
The electric mid-range SUVs of the Volkswagen Group share something besides their basics: they all have or will all have a ‘coupé’ version. The Audi Q4 e-tron already has it in the form of the Q4 e-tron Sportback, the Skoda Enyaq gets the Enyaq Coupé next to it and at Volkswagen the ID4 is accompanied by the ID5. The latter is about to reveal itself to the world.
On November 3, next Wednesday, Volkswagen will pull the curtain on the ID5 GTX. A car that has very few surprises in store for us, at least in appearance. After all, we got to see the ID5 GTX several times in a barely concealing camouflage print. Take the Volkswagen ID4 and press the rear part of the roof down and voilà: you have the ID5. The above teaser doesn’t add much in that regard. The biggest news is the unveiling date of the ID5. It’s closer than we initially thought.
Volkswagen is talking specifically about the ID5 GTX and that means that we are immediately presented with the sportiest ID5. A four-wheel drive version that logically, just like the ID4 GTX, is strong at 300 hp and has an already confirmed range of 497 km thanks to the 77 kWh battery pack. It is still the question whether the ID5 is always this GTX version, or whether there will also be milder versions. However, the latter is in line with expectations. In that case, you can of course also count on the same drivetrains as those of the ID4.
