Volkswagen ID6 Crozz shows up!

The Volkswagen ID4 gets two electric SUV brothers next to it: the ID5 and the ID6. Pictures of the ID6 have now surfaced in China, but not as you would expect!

Already in February this year, the first photos surfaced in China of the electric Volkswagen ID6, the longer and more spacious SUV brother of the ID4 with three rows of seats and space for up to seven passengers. It will soon be sold in two versions in China. These fresh photos show the second member of the ID6 family, the ID6 Crozz.

Yes, Volkswagen will soon be selling two different versions of the electric ID6 side by side in China. That sounds strange, but it is still somewhat explainable. Volkswagen has two joint ventures in China. The first with SAIC-Volkswagen, the second with FAW-Volkswagen. Both partnerships are going to make their own version of the ID6, which differ from each other in terms of design. The car that will be called ID6 X will be built by SAIC-Volkswagen. FAW-Volkswagen is going to build the ID6 Crozz that you see in these photos.

Volkswagen is using a similar strategy in China on many other models, including the electric ID4. SAIC-Volkswagen is building the ID4 X in China, an optically different variant from the European ID4. The ID4 as we know it is sold by FAW-Volkswagen as ID4 Crozz. It remains to be seen whether, as with the ID4, the Crozz version of the ID6 is optically more or less the same as the European version.

The ID6 Crozz has a differently designed front bumper than the ID6 X (photos 6, to 9), but the most striking difference is in the headlights. They are completely different from those of the ID6 X and are cut through by a piece of the ‘grille’. The Crozz is also different from the X at the rear. The rear lights not only have a different layout, but are connected in a straight strip in the middle. The ID6 X includes a black panel underneath the units. The rear bumper is also different.

Now the key question: which version of the ID6 would you prefer to see as a European ID6 in our country?
