New software for your Apple Watch in September
The successor to watchOS 8 will be released in September 2022. For example, last year’s update provided more health functions, became less distracting with ‘Focus’ and better track your sleep.
Now that watchOS 9 has been announced, many exciting features have been added. This software was announced at the same time as iOS 16, iPadOS 16, macOS 13 and other firmware during WWDC, Apple’s software conference on June 6. These are the new features of watchOS 9
WatchOS 8 was a minor update, but watchOS 9 wasn’t! We received little information about the new software in advance, but Apple has announced a few things anyway. That is why we can now tell you which functions we will see on your Apple Watch in September 2022.

Your Apple Watch is getting new watch faces. The coolest we find is the astronomy dial and the dial with the moon and different lunar calendars.

These Apple Watches get the new software update
Every year an older Apple Watch falls off. For example, WatchOS 8 was no longer available for the Apple Watch 2. Unfortunately, watchOS 9 no longer supports the Apple Watch series 3. In conclusion: the following smartwatches from Apple do support the update to the new firmware version:

- Apple Watch Series 5
- Apple Watch Series 6
- Apple Watch SE
- Apple Watch Series 7
When can I download watchOS 9?
Apple will gradually roll out watchOS 9 for your Apple Watch from September 2022. For this, the developers, who were present at WWDC, first have to work with the new firmware.
After a beta for developers, a test version is often released for ‘normal’ Apple Watch wearers. We expect this sometime this summer. That is why we will keep an eye on everything until then and we will tell you when watchOS 9 is available how you can best download and install it on your Apple Watch.
