Yesterday we finally got to see what Apple has to offer us during the WWDC23 keynote. WANT editor-in-chief Mark Hofman was there live and tells you all about the new functions for the iPhone, Apple Watch and AirPods.
The WWDC23 keynote that took place yesterday was packed with news. Not only did we see the new Apple Vision Pro and the 15-inch MacBook for the first time, but there was also room for Apple’s new operating systems. Chief among them, of course, is iOS 17 for the iPhone. From Apple Park in California, Mark will show you all the new things you can do on your iPhone.
Great new features for your iPhone, Apple Watch, AirPods and more
During WWDC23, Apple mainly focuses on developers, but that doesn’t mean it won’t help you at all. In fact, you’ll see all sorts of cool features coming to your iPhone, Apple Watch, and Mac. Which ones are really super fat and should you keep an eye on? Mark explains in the video below.
Improvements for the iPhone
Live voicemail comes to your iPhone. This allows you to immediately see who is calling on your screen and you also get to see a transcript of the spoken text. So you can always record whenever you want. In addition, you can now also record a short video via FaceTime and send it to the person in question, useful if that person does not answer.
In addition, your iPhone will also become smarter when it comes to typing. Autocorrect uses a new language model in iOS 17, so it gets to know you better and predicts exactly what you want to say.
iOS 17 also brings StandBy to iPhone, similar to Google Home. It is a handy hub, agenda or photo frame. With the help of widgets you determine how it looks.
iOS 17 also introduces Check In for iPhone. It allows you to share very easily when you are in a certain place at a certain time. Mark explains in the video exactly how this works.
Apple Watch
Speaking of Widgets, you will also see these on the Apple Watch from next fall. The structure is slightly different than on the iPhone, but it is a huge addition. Turning the Digital Crown makes it easy to scroll through all the different widgets.
AirPods
There are not only improvements on the Apple Watch and iPhone, the AirPods are also being overhauled by Apple. There will be no new model, but they will get a cool new function. With Adaptive Sound, it automatically switches between transparency mode and noise reduction mode. So very handy.
AirDrop
Apple makes AirDrop even better with NameDrop. This allows you to easily share your data with someone else during a business event. It is of course also very useful in the pub.
Gaming on your Mac
Let’s face it, the Mac isn’t really known for its gaming prowess. But that has to change now, because the computer now gets GameMode. This should give you better gaming on the Mac. The GPU and CPU are optimized for the game while gaming, which should lead to a much better experience.
Facetiming on television
It is now possible to FaceTime on your television. That is of course very cool, but also useful during video meetings. The nearest iPhone or iPad takes over the task to film.
Mental Health on iPhone and iPad
FaceTiming with your family is of course good for your mental health, but Apple is going to help you with that even further. The Health app focuses more on your mental state. How exactly? Mark will tell you that in more detail in the video. So be sure to watch!
