The 16-inch MacBook Pro is not available for in-store pick-up in several Apple Stores, including the locations in Amsterdam and The Hague. This may be an indication that the launch of the new 2021 MacBook Pro with M1X chip is near.
Stock 16-inch MacBook Pro
Mark Gurman from Bloomberg noticed as first Note that it is no longer possible to pick up the 16-inch MacBook Pro at many Apple Stores. This is usually a sign that the launch of a successor is near. At the beginning of September, such a situation occurred with the 8th generation iPad (2020). A week later, Apple announced the new iPad 2021.
The shortage in stock is both in physical stores and online. Besides the Netherlands, the MacBook Pro is scarce in many important markets, such as the United States, China and Japan.
The news is not surprising, because everything points to Apple launching new MacBook Pro models this month. At the end of this month (we expect Tuesday, October 26) an Apple event will probably take place, in which Apple will present the new MacBooks with M1X processor. They will go on sale shortly after.
Save your patience
On that note, it might be a good thing it’s getting harder to get a 16-inch MacBook Pro, because it’s bad timing to get one. In a few weeks you will have a MacBook Pro 2021 for about the same money (or even less) that is better on all fronts.
The 16-inch MacBook Pro will be much more powerful. Now he has to make do with an old Intel Core i9 processor from 2019. Soon Apple will use the latest version of the Apple Silicon chip, which the tech giant probably calls the M1X. It reportedly has ten processor cores, eight of which are performance cores and two efficiency cores. In addition, there are probably 16 graphics cores; you can extend this to 32.
In addition to the more powerful processor, more changes with the 16-inch MacBook Pro. Curious about the changes? You can read it in the article about the MacBook Pro 2021 expectations.
