The first generation of the Comfobuds will be released this year. The Chinese brand 1More sees bread in the bluetooth headsets and comes with one series after another. It is now time for the second generation of the Comfobuds.
Loose comfort
With this series, 1More mainly focuses on comfortable earphones by keeping the rubber tips small so that they do not go far into your ear and due to low weight. In that respect, 1More has succeeded well in this. The problem with the rubber tips is that they do not stay in place optimally. You get two different sizes of tips, which in my case both do not stay in place.
When you work quietly behind the laptop, the earphones stay in place well and you can safely keep them in for a working day. Although. The battery won’t pull that off, but your ears will. With minimal movement such as walking and cycling, you continuously have the feeling that your earphones can fall out at any moment – and often enough it does. Very clumsy.
earrings
Actually, the design has remained the same compared to the first Comfobuds. The ears look quirky: they stick out of your ear and taper off. LED lights are incorporated into the pointed ends. This shows that the earphones are connected, for example, or that the battery is almost empty.
The oval-shaped, elongated charging box has also remained the same. The box is very small in size. Easy to carry in your pocket, but less generous in battery capacity. You can charge this battery (quickly) via the USB-C connection. Wireless charging is not possible.
Play
The Comfobuds 2 are no-nonsense in terms of features. You don’t have noise reduction and ambient sound modes. Of course there are microphones in it, for example to be able to make telephone calls. 1More has an app, which does not have an equalizer. You can choose from several sound profiles.
However, the sound quality of the Comfobuds 2 is not good for you, you really notice that you are listening to earphones in the budget segment. The sound is a bit tinny, although it sounds better than the first generation Comfobuds. The sound mainly lacks power and bass tones. It also does not help that the ears are not optimally placed in the ear. Personally, the sound quality would be a reason for me to invest a little more money in earphones that have more to offer.
battery life
The earphones and the box are therefore small and light and therefore equipped with a small battery. The battery of the earphones lasts about five hours. Not really impressively long, especially when you consider that this is without energy-consuming functions such as noise reduction.
The box has enough capacity to fully charge the earphones almost five times. If you go out with the box, you can therefore assume that you can use it for a maximum of 25 hours before you have to connect the Comfobuds 2 to the cable.
Alternatives to the Comfobuds 2
The 1More Comfobuds 2 have a price tag of around 60 euros. This makes the earphones very accessible priced and in terms of sound quality in line with what you can expect. If this is something you value, then it pays to put a little more money into earphones. Think of the Nothing Ear(1) or the Samsung Galaxy Buds. In fact, the somewhat older Galaxy Buds + are often discounted to comparable prices as these Comfobuds 2: better sound quality and fit.
Other earphones in comparable price ranges from Skullbone, Urbanista, Xiaomi or other brands will not give you better sound quality. Much better fit.
Conclusion: Want to buy 1More Comfobuds 2?
The 1More Comfobuds 2 are indeed comfortable, as the name suggests. Yet the fit is not optimal, so that the light ears are not so stuck in your ear and do not close enough. This also has consequences for the sound quality, which is somewhat experienceless.
