If 2019 was the year in which folding smartphones were announced and even entered the market, then 2020 is already the year of the folding laptop. Various manufacturers have announced laptops with a folding screen and we will take them through with you.

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold

This laptop has (is?) A 13.3 inch large foldable OLED screen with a resolution of 2048×1536 and can be folded double. The device can also be placed as a laptop and the lower part of the screen can then be used as a virtual keyboard or for other virtual controls. If you prefer to have a physical keyboard, you can add a physical keyboard in the form of a cover.

The device also has 8 GB of RAM and runs on Windows 10. Support for Windows 10X will be added later. The ThinkPad X1 Fold will be launched this year.

Intel Horseshoe Bend

Intel has long been struggling with the idea of launching laptops with multiple screens or folding screens. The Horseshoe Bend is (has?) A 17-inch foldable OLED screen and runs on the new Tiger Lake architecture. As with the ThinkPad X1 Fold, this laptop can be set up as a laptop and the lower screen can be used as a virtual keyboard or app-specific controls.

Intel has not yet made clear whether (and when) this laptop will be available.

Dell Duet / Ori

Dell has also announced folding laptops. The Dell Duet has two screens that are both the same size. Dell hasn’t released much about this laptop yet. Because these are two screens with a hinge in the middle, it is technically not really a laptop with folding screen, but we still wanted to mention it because the idea comes down to the same thing: the bottom screen can be used as a virtual keyboard or for other app-specific virtual controls.

The Ori, however, is a laptop that consists of a single large folding screen. Not much is known about this laptop either. Dell showed the prototype, but did not release much about the device except that it will run on Windows.

These will probably not be the last foldable laptops announced this year, but it shows that foldable devices are popular.
