If you’re in the market for Kawasaki’s newest addition to the retro-classic segment, but you’ve had enough of that eternal green, we might have some good news for you. The Z650RS is also available in black for model year 2023.
We must confess that we are actually more charmed by the RS than by the standard ‘Sugomi’ naked from which they are derived. They, indeed, because that goes for both the Z900RS and the Z650RS. And that in itself makes sense, because both RS models are derived from the same primal Z.
In fact, you have to be careful to distinguish the Z900RS from the Z650RS from a few meters away. The teardrop-shaped tank, the flat seat, the round headlight and the double round counters seem to have been transferred directly from the 900 on the 650.
Technically, the Z650RS is the same as the ‘Sugomi’ Z650, but still gives it a completely different feeling when driving. Compared to the Z650, the handlebars have been moved closer to you, creating a more relaxed seat. A seat that fits better with the image of a retro classic.
The 2023 Z650RS will be available from November this year in the classically correct color Candy Emerald Green and the new modern Metallic Spark Black color scheme, of course it is also available in a 35kW version. Prices will be announced later this year.
