Save time when shutting down your machine by adopting one of these three techniques to quickly shut down your PC.
Shutting down a computer may take more or less time, depending on the machine, but also on the programs that are open to you. Rather than wasting your time in multiple clicks to close all programs and shut down your machine, why not set up shortcuts to speed up the maneuver?
1. Use keyboard shortcuts
First possibility, use the native Windows keyboard shortcuts. To quickly shut down your machine, display the desktop using the Windows + D shortcut, use the key combination Alt + F4 and validate the shutdown of the PC by pressing Enter.

2. Reconfigure the power button of your PC
On most computers, pressing the power button puts the PC into sleep. However, it is possible to reconfigure this button so that it turns off your machine.
To do this, go to Settings, then in System, enter the Power and standby menu.

Scroll down to the settings and then, in the Related settings section, click on Additional power settings.

The Power Options window appears. In the left column, click Choose what the power button does.

Expand the menus displayed in the line When I press the On / Off button, and select Stop.
Validate your choice by clicking on Save changes. The computer should now turn off automatically as soon as you press the power button.

3. Create a clickable shortcut
Another possibility offered to shut down your computer: create a clickable shortcut.
For that, no need to be a crack in code. From the Windows desktop, right click then, in New, choose to create a Shortcut.

In the window that appears, enter the following command:
% windir% System32 shutdown.exe / s / t 0
The zero corresponds to the waiting time in seconds, before switching off. If you wish, you can change this value to leave a count before shutting down your machine. Click Next, customize the name if necessary, and click Finish to save your shortcut.

You can customize your shortcut icon. Right-click on it, then in Property, go to the Shortcut tab and click on Change icon at the bottom of the window.

In the pop-up that appears, select the appropriate icon, and confirm your choice.
To go even faster, right click on the shortcut and choose Pin to taskbar. You are now one click away from extinction.
