4 effective home remedies for constipation

1. Home remedies for constipation: psyllium

Psyllium or Psyllium husk swell strongly in the stomach and intestines. This increases the pressure on the intestinal wall, stimulates intestinal activity and thus helps against constipation.

Application: Stir a tablespoon of psyllium in a glass of water, milk, or whatever you like. The psyllium seeds themselves are tasteless. Drink the mixture and after 12 to 24 hours you should have a bowel movement again.

As an alternative to psyllium, you can also bring your cereal with you linseed or Chia seeds enrich and keep your digestion going.

2. The vitamin C bomb against constipation: sauerkraut juice

Sauerkraut juice is considered a home remedy for constipation because it contains many lactic acid bacteria. They stimulate digestion and also support healthy intestinal flora.

Application: Drink 250 milliliters of sauerkraut juice in the morning before breakfast or right before lunch. Later in the day, you should stop drinking sauerkraut juice to avoid deferring the bowel movement into the night.

3. Tip against constipation: dried plums

Plum juice or Prunes are a tried and true home remedy for constipation.

Application: Drink about 250 milliliters of plum juice after getting up. If you prefer prunes, soak five to ten fruits in water in the evening. Drink the water in the morning and eat the swollen prunes.

As an alternative to dried plums, you can also dried apricots or Dates to attempt. They have the same effect.

4. Rescuer in need: olive oil

The following recipe has proven itself for acute constipation: Take a tablespoon in the morning and evening olive oil to you. If the effect is to set in particularly quickly, you can add chopped chillies to the oil. The effect should then start within a few hours.

If the constipation lasts for more than a few days or occurs again and again, you should see a doctor. Even if the home remedy only relieves the constipation but does not completely solve it, you should still seek medical advice.
