When you look at the keyboard, you will see that above the numbers are several special characters. Normally you hold down the key of the corresponding number to type the special character.

In addition, you can also press the shift key followed by the number to type the character. However, there is an even faster way to conjure up the special character. We’ll tell you that in our first tip of the hidden features of the iPad keyboard.

To quickly type a special character, place your finger on the corresponding number. Then swipe down a bit and the special character will immediately appear on the screen.

2. Call up iPhone keyboard

Sometimes the iPad’s keyboard is actually way too big and just gets in the way. Annoying, but there is a solution. You can call up the iPhone keyboard on your iPad. This has the advantage that the keyboard takes up a lot less space and that you can also move it easily. But there is another advantage: you can also type your words with swipes. Apple calls this feature QuickPath.

3. Use iPad keyboard and spacebar as mouse

If you’ve made a typo, you’ve probably cursed a lot to get your cursor exactly where the mistake was made. Admit it: no matter how good your iPad’s touchscreen is, your finger is just too big for that. However, there is an easier way to get the cursor in the right place.

All you need to do is tap your finger near the word you want to edit. Then press and hold the iPad’s spacebar. The letters on the keyboard disappear and you can now move the cursor by swiping your finger. This makes it a lot easier to get the cursor where you want it.
