5 Apple Arcade Games Worth Playing in 2022

To be fair, in 2022 it is not very exciting with Apple Arcade. The weekly releases are not really getting started yet. Fortunately, the service now has quite a few games available. We dug into the archives and here are five of our favorite games to try in early 2022.

Five great games on Apple Arcade

Kingdom Rush Frontiers TD+

We start this overview with Kingdom Rush Frontiers TD+ on Apple Arcade. Since the advent of the App Store, Tower Defense games have become popular. And this is perhaps the best. Ideal if you haven’t played the game before. In the game you are presented with different levels. With the budgets you have you have to put towers in the different places to finish various enemies. Every enemy has different strengths and weaknesses and it’s up to you to anticipate them well. A game that is good for many tens of hours of fun.

Tetris Beat

Tetis is a game that needs no explanation. The game series has been released on various platforms since the old Game Boy. You can go wild with Tetris Beat via Apple Arcade. This is a game that you should actually play with your headset on. You drop the different blocks based on the music beat. At least in one of the modes. If you just want to play the classic Tetris, that’s also possible, but with some nice music in the background. A game that you can always grab and play.

Alto’s Odyssey: The Lost City

Alto’s Odyssey: The Lost City is also such an ideal game that you throw on your iPhone and then play it over a period of time. In this Apple Arcade game, you slide through different environments with a sandboard. You can pick up coins along the way. With that you buy upgrades between runs. It is important to get as far as possible. That is easier said than done, because along the way you will have to deal with various obstacles. If you make a mistake once, you’ll be stretched out and your run is over. Then there is no other option but to start again. That is by no means a punishment.

Fantasian on Apple Arcade

If you prefer a game to really let loose for a while, Fantasian is an absolute must-have within Apple Arcade. The game was created by Hironobu Sakaguchi. This man was responsible for the original Final Fantasy games and is regarded as a great figure in the Japanese RPG world. This game is recognizable in terms of gameplay for those types of players. It is a title with a nice big and extensive story and a good combat system. An additional advantage is that the game visually looks really nice. I do recommend it to play on the iPad with a controller. Or on Apple TV. That’s when the game really comes into its own.

The Pathless

The last game we really like on Apple Aracde is The Pathless. The game came out at the end of 2020, but is still worth checking out. In the game you take on the role of Hunter, who is very good with his bow and arrow. You find yourself on an island to break a curse of darkness and save humanity from destruction. You will be assisted by your eagle during the adventure. You get a mix between action and puzzles in a visual spectacle.
