We are eagerly awaiting WWDC 23 in June. There we will see for the first time what iOS 17 has in store for us. What can we all expect on our iPhone?
WWDC is one of the events that nerds like us look forward to the most. At Apple’s conference, we see what to expect from iOS 17, your iPhone’s operating system.
iOS 17 brings these features to your iPhone
But what exactly can you expect from iOS 17? We list five functions that you will see appear on your iPhone from the fall. Here they come:
#1 App Store Alternatives
Do you want to put an app on your iPhone? Then you still have to go to Apple’s App Store, but that will change. The European Union considers this a monopoly and wants other providers to also have access to the iPhone. For example, we may see an Xbox App Store and the Epic Game Store.
To adjust that, Apple must make adjustments to its operating system. The company is therefore already working on making iOS 17 ready for it. Do you want to know more about that? Then read this article by my colleague Mark.
#2 Dynamic Island
The Dynamic Island was one of the new features of the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max. The feature will also be coming to the regular iPhone 15 models in September. For example, all new devices have the ideal selfie camera camouflage.

Because the function has only been new for a year, it is of course expected that Apple will come up with a number of novelties. At the moment, the possibilities are still quite limited, such as incoming calls and sports results.
Apple may open this part of the iPhone more to other developers in iOS 17, so that they can also make better use of it. Then the Dynamic Island becomes a tropical surprise. Apple itself wants to make Siri more accessible through the special notch.
#3 Active Widgets
Widgets have been a part of the iPhone since iOS 14. For example, you have the option of custom tiles on the screen so that you see more of an app. Think of the display of the weather or the songs you listen to on Spotify.
Despite the fact that the widgets are almost three years old, the possibilities are still somewhat limited. For example, they do not have interactive elements such as a scroll function or a switch. This may change in iOS 17, an anonymous source previously reported. So you have more options.

#4 A new control panel on your iPhone
The control panel of the iPhone is a handy overview to quickly access various functions such as your alarm clock and flashlight. Apple hasn’t touched this part in six years, but with iOS 17 it will really happen if we have to believe the rumors.
Unfortunately, we don’t yet know what exactly will change. We expect that the function will get a new look and that there will be more manual adjustment of what you want to see and what you don’t want to see.
#5 Improved search features with iOS 17
Apple has been working hard in recent years to improve the search functions on the iPhone and according to rumors. For example, think of your photos. For example, you type the word ‘dog’ in the search bar and you immediately see all the photos of your favorite four-legged friend.
Although AI makes this possible, we should not expect Apple to introduce a ChatGPT variant in iOS 17. The innovations are somewhat smaller, but they do help you find information even more easily. Something that is really necessary, for example, with the search function for the Settings app.
