While enjoying all the amenities in this bunker, such as a basketball court, spa and cocktail bar, old feuds and family rivalries between two families surface, turning the bunker into a hotbed of tension, secrets and conflict. The series combines drama, thriller and social criticism and continuously keeps the viewer in suspense with unexpected twists and mysteries surrounding the residents and their hidden agendas.

The series shows how Ed, raised by a strict mother, develops a macabre obsession after her death, including digging up and mutilating corpses. The story focuses on his psychological background and his influence on well-known horror films such as Psycho and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The series is the third installment in the “Monster” series by Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan and also explores the times just before Ed’s first body exhumation and elements such as Alfred Hitchcock’s film Psycho, which was partly inspired by Ed Gein. The series also contains fictional additions, but is based on his actual crimes and background.

It is a social drama based on true events, in which the challenge lies not only in fighting crime, but especially in surviving and being accepted as authority figures in a hostile environment.
