We have had to wait many years for snow like this, so grab your chance and use these tips to photograph it well now!
5 tips for photographing snow
You may have taken a lot of snow photos last week, but you can always do better. And you will certainly succeed with these 5 useful tips for photographing snow with your iPhone!
1. Set the exposure manually
Due to the overwhelming amount of white, your iPhone often has difficulty choosing the right exposure. Therefore, do not rely on the default setting, but adjust the exposure manually. You do this by simply tapping the screen (yellow square appears) and then swiping up (lighter) or down (darker) at the sun that appears to the right of the yellow square.
You can also tap the top right button (six dots) and then tap ‘Exposure’ at the bottom left. You can then adjust the exposure using a slider at the bottom of the screen.

2. Shoot in black and white
Snow is perfect for taking cinematic black and white photos. The lack of color makes white stand out more and black stands out. You can of course edit your photos afterwards, but you can also immediately photograph in black and white. To do this, tap the button (six dots) at the top right again and then select ‘Styles’ at the bottom. Now swipe the screen to the left until you come across ‘Mute B&W’ or ‘Hard B&W’ and choose one of the two.

3. Film falling snow in slow motion
Of course, this is not photography, but falling snow looks much more impressive if you film it in slow motion. And it’s easier than you think. Just choose ‘Slow motion’ (left next to ‘Video’) and film a piece. Play the recorded piece and adjust the playback speed in the settings if desired.

Please note that the video will play slower and will therefore be a lot longer. So you don’t have to film for as long as you might think in advance.
4. Create depth
You make many photos more beautiful by creating depth, but this certainly applies to snow photos. If the sky, ground and nature around you is completely white, your photos can quickly look like a white square. Therefore, use lines, trees, twigs and the like to emphasize that there is depth in the image, for example as in the photo below.

5. Use color to break up the white
A snow photo can be extra beautiful if you place a brightly colored object in your image. For example, photograph someone wearing a brightly colored coat, or take an umbrella with bright colors. The white of the snow makes the subject of your photo stand out even more from the picture than usual.
