50 years of Z: 50th Anniversary editions of Z900 and Z650

Fifty years after the launch of the very first Z, Kawasaki has announced no fewer than five Z50 Anniversary models. Three of them are in the Supernaked family, the Z900, Z900 A2 and Z650.

“The Z900’s dynamic Sugomi styling has won many fans since its introduction with an unashamedly aggressive stance paired with dynamic and responsive ride feedback that only a Z could have,” said Kawasaki in its press release on the Z50 anniversary models.

The 50th anniversary editions of the Supernaked Z900 are dressed in the Firecracker Red of the Z1100GP, the dominant air-cooled Z model of the 1980s. You might not think it, but this shade of red – also found on the legendary GPZ900R – was Kawasaki’s signature house color at the time.

As another high-class touch, the outer fork legs are finished in gold and the frame in gloss black. With this unique livery, the new season Z900 Z50 model will be available as both a full power and a 70 kW A2 specification model.

Featuring TFT color instrumentation with smartphone connectivity, the Z900 includes integrated power modes, KTRC traction control and Power Mode Selector (Full/Low) and full LED lighting.

The Z650 with its narrow chassis and responsive twin-cylinder engine is an absolute favorite among riders of all experience levels. Equipped with all-round LED lighting, a TFT display and smartphone connectivity, the Z650 stimulates Kawasaki’s senses and inspires every ride.

The vibrant red paint has been mixed especially for these anniversary models, making their aggressive Supernaked Z styling even more striking. The dark blue and silver accents accentuate the red and, as on models of the era, the “Z” decal and Kawasaki logo are finished in gold, further distinguishing these models from their standard counterparts.

Add red wheels, with silver pinstripes, special leather and a commemorative “Z 50th” logo on the front fender and the package is complete. In addition to the striking and above all unique color scheme, Kawasaki has also developed a unique “50 years of the Z brand” for the lucky buyers, which will not be for sale in the store.
