635 hp BMW M5 CS is official

Yesterday the BMW M5 CS appeared on the internet too early, today the manufacturer from Munich itself is pulling the curtain off the superlative of the M5. We welcome: the M5 CS!

It is the first time in M5 history that BMW is adding a CS version of the M5 to its delivery range. The M5 CS, where the two letters stand for Sport Competition, is considered the ultimate M5, which surpasses the 625 hp strong M5 Competition. Just like the regular M5 and M5 Competition, it has a 4.4-liter V8 with two turbos under the hood. In the M5 CS, that eight-cylinder delivers no less than 635 hp and 750 Nm!

Those 635 M horses find their way to the asphalt via an eight-speed M Septronic transmission and M xDrive all-wheel drive. This system is not only able to distribute the power to all four wheels, but can also send all forces directly to the rear axle. The M5 CS is not only more powerful than the already well-known M5 models, it is also lighter. It slimmed down 70 kilos compared to the M5 Competition, including by making the hood, front splitter, mirror caps, rear spoiler and diffuser from carbon fiber reinforced plastic. The difference does not stop there, BMW also gives the M5 CS a firmer springs, adjusted dampers and folds Pirelli P Zero Corsa racing rubber around the special 20-inch alloy wheels.

The BMW M5 CS is able to sprint to 100 km / h in just 3 seconds, which makes it 0.3 seconds faster than the M5 Competition in the 0-100 sprint. Perhaps even more impressive: in 10.4 counts, the speedometer indicates 200 km / h. The top speed is electronically limited to 305 km / h. From the outside, the M5 CS can be recognized by its Golf Bronze-colored details. We encounter the color around the grille, on the tailgate, at the front fenders and on the wheels.

Of course the M5 CS also offers space for rear passengers, although a regular rear seat is missing. Instead, you will find two more or less loose racing shells. All seats are covered in black Merino leather with Mugello Red contrast stitching. An illuminated M5 logo in the headrests enhances the festive spirit. Behind the steering wheel are carbon fiber shift paddles. Incidentally, an armrest with storage space and flap is missing, you have to make do with a small cover on the center console.

The most powerful BMW M ever has a starting price of € 224,523 in the Netherlands. The first copies will be delivered in the spring of this year.
