iOS 15 has been out for a few months now, but not all of the promised iPhone features are available yet. In this article we mention 7 features that have been postponed and (possibly) coming soon.
iOS 15: The Deferred Features
Let’s be honest: iOS 15 isn’t the most spectacular iPhone update there has been. This was partly due to functions that were suspended, because initially Apple had wanted to bring more innovations to the operating system. Several iOS 15 features that Apple announced at WWDC in June have not yet appeared. Here they are.
1. Digital Legacy

For example, a feature that is still missing is Digital Legacy. This allows you to assign a contact person as a ‘legacy contact’. After your death, that person has access to the data on your iPhone, such as your photos, messages, notes and files.
The iOS 15 feature is likely to be coming soon as it is present in the iOS 15.2 betas. This interim update is likely to be available in early December.
2. Live text
Live Text is arguably the coolest iOS 15 feature. This allows the iPhone to recognize and copy text, for example via the Camera app or Photos. Unfortunately, the function is not yet available in the Netherlands and Belgium. At least: the option is turned off by default.
Fortunately, there is already a way to enable Live Text, although the function is well hidden. Open the Settings app and go to General > Language & Region. Set the switch behind ‘Live text’ to green.
3. Visual Look Up
With Visual Look Up you get information about what can be seen in a photo. This works with works of art, sights, plants and animals, among other things. In English-speaking countries, the function – which is very similar to Google Lens – is already present, but we still have to wait for it here. It is not clear when Visual Look Up will appear in the Netherlands.
4. 3D Navigate

Navigating with Maps will soon allow you to drive around the city in 3D. The roads and landscapes can be viewed in detail and you can see the differences in height. Unfortunately, the display is only available in several US cities for now.
5. ID cards
As of iOS 15, it would be possible for Americans to add their ID card or driver’s license to the Wallet app. However, Apple recently announced that the feature has been delayed until 2022.
6. Room keys
Another addition to the Wallet app is the ability to store room keys in it. This could be the key for your office or hotel room, for example. You can then unlock the door by holding your iPhone or Apple Watch near the lock. The feature was supposed to be in iOS 15, but has been delayed to “later this fall.”
7. Privacy Report for Apps
Which apps can access and use your location, photos, camera, microphone, and contacts in the past seven days? The Privacy Report shows it. Here you can also see which domains the apps have contacted.
The feature has been postponed, but we don’t have long to wait for it. As of iOS 15.2, the Privacy Report for apps is present on your iPhone. You can find this via ‘Settings>Privacy’.
