The V-Strom 800DE is Suzuki’s new addition to the Adventure Sport mid-range, boasting class-leading engineering, excellent on- and off-road performance and extensive standard equipment. This completely new model can be admired in the showroom of the Suzuki dealers from April 15.
The V-Strom 800DE has the new 776cc parallel twin with 270° crankshaft and the patented Suzuki Cross Balancer mechanism, which eliminates vibration. An up/down quickshifter is standard. The twin is good for an output of 83 hp at 8,500 rpm and a torque of 78 Nm at 6,800 rpm. Of course, a variant for A2 driving license holders is also available with 35 kW.
A steel frame and lightweight aluminum swingarm, along with a 21-inch front wheel and 17-inch rear wheel, provide excellent stability and maneuverability. The Showa adjustable front and rear suspension offers long travel of 220mm.
Thanks to adjustable ABS (in two positions) and Traction Control (four positions), the
V-Strom 800DE can also be optimally adjusted for off-road riding. The ABS on the rear brake (260 mm) can also be switched off, as can the traction control.
In addition, the dedicated Gravel mode (G-mode) keeps the bike manageable and provides the desired power delivery to explore unpaved roads and trails with more confidence. In addition, there are three driving modes for street use: Active, Basic and Comfort. In the OFF position, there is no driver assistance intervention at all, which is ideal for off-road purists.
The Suzuki Clutch Assist System (SCAS) with slipper function provides light clutch operation and prevents slipping or bouncing of the rear wheel when downshifting. Thanks to the Suzuki Easy Start System, just one push of a button is enough to start the engine. The Low RPM Assist function ensures that the engine speed is increased slightly when the clutch lever is released for a smooth start from a standstill, even on a slope.
The 5-inch color TFT display is easy to read and provides real-time information about the engine status. A 5-volt USB connection is fitted on the left side of the multifunction dashboard for charging a navigation system or smartphone. Standard equipment also includes LED lighting. Top and side cases are optionally available.
The short windshield maximizes visibility and protection when riding on country roads and gravel paths. The screen is also adjustable in three positions, in steps of 15 mm. Furthermore, the V-Strom 800DE is equipped with handguards, wide footrests with rubber blocks, a luggage rack with integrated passenger handles, radiator protection and a plastic crankcase protection plate.
The Suzuki V-Strom 800DE is available with a choice of three different color combinations. Iconic is the combination of yellow and blue, this color – Champion Yellow – forms a beautiful contrast with the dark blue side panels. Another option is the combination of the gray Glass Mat Gray and yellow accents on the front. Both colors are inspired by Suzuki’s rich motorcycle history. The third color combination consists of the black Glass Sparkle Black and dark blue side panels.
The Suzuki V-STROM 800DE is available from € 12,699. A very attractive price for an engine with no less than 6 years manufacturer’s warranty.
