The Netherlands is still a caravan country

No news in this article, but two interesting facts. The RDW provides insight into how many motorhomes and caravans were registered in the Netherlands on January 1 of this year. What seems? The number of campers in the Netherlands has increased enormously in recent years. The number of caravans in the Netherlands has decreased slightly.
Figures presented by RDW show that on 1 January of this year no fewer than 173,657 motorhomes were registered. That is not only eight percent more than on January 1, 2022, but an impressive 36 percent more than on January 1, 2019. The growth of eight percent is substantial, but not as large as that of 2021. In that year, the number of motorhomes increased in the Netherlands by more than ten percent. This strongly increased demand is partly related to the corona pandemic, which prompted a large number of Dutch people to travel and stay in a more individualistic way.
The number of caravans in the Netherlands has decreased in recent years, but there are still considerably more caravans than campers in our country. On January 1, 406,735 caravans were registered in the Netherlands, 15,589 fewer (-4 percent) than in 2019.
Have you recently purchased a camper or caravan? And in the case of the latter: what drives for it?
