Bolide in production

Anyone who thinks of ‘a car’, already thinks of a fast, expensive and with thick design-technical drama cars. In that respect, the Bugatti Bolide lives up to its name. Wasn’t the Bolide already there? Yes and no. The final production version of the French extremist has finally been filmed.
In the part of autoland where nothing tastes as good as the sweetest slice of the hypercar pie, Bugatti rules the roost. With the Veyron and successor Chiron, Bugatti has had powerful and excruciatingly expensive and fast exotics on its menu for years. Although ‘Veyron’ and ‘Chiron’ have a link with the distant past and even mythological connotations, Bugatti is not a hero in coming up with performance names. For example, extra powerful variants of the Chiron with its minimum 1,500 hp W16 are called ‘Sport’ and ‘Super Sport’, as if we were dealing with a Daewoo Lanos from 2001. In 2020, Bugatti’s marketing department shook the model name ‘Bolide’ out of the sleeve. As if the existing cars of the brand were not a Bolide … However, the Bolide was so crazy that you quickly forgot its name. The Bolide was in fact an almost 1,850 hp Chiron derivative of which it was later announced that there would actually be a production version. This long intro is finally coming to an end: the production Bolide is now here.
Bugatti Bolide (2020).
The Bugatti Bolide is of course insanely strong. Behind the front seats is a 1,600 hp variant of the 8.0 W16 with four turbos. This makes the sixteen-cylinder not as strong as in the 1,850 hp pre-production Bolide, but just as powerful as in the Super Sport 300+. However, the Bugatti Bolide has more horsepower than kilograms. The winged colossus weighs only 1,450 kilograms, several hundred kilograms less than the Chiron and its other derivatives. That means each horsepower only needs to move 900 grams. A bizarre achievement for a model with such a heavy powertrain.
Bugatti is currently finalizing the testing work and will eventually produce 40 Bolides. You are not allowed to use it on public roads, which means that the Bolide will always remain a party that you can only really celebrate on the circuit. The Bolide party will start in 2024 when the first copies are delivered.
