Ideal city friend?
Are electric cars always relatively expensive? Not if it’s up to Luvly. The Swedish company comes with the Luvly 0, a simplistic small electric city car that should have a starting price of €10,000.
With a starting price of just under €22,000, the Dacia Spring is currently the cheapest electric car you can buy new in the Netherlands. MG recently presented a small electric city rascal in India with a range of 230 kilometers that should cost less than 9 grand. That Comet is in fact one of the tiny EVs from the Chinese Wuling that are not for sale in Europe. The Swedish Luvly is about to present a small, simple EV in Europe: Luvly O. The Luvly O must have an international starting price of €10,000.
Of course you shouldn’t expect much from the Luvly O. We are dealing with a 2.7 meter short simple electric city car that is only 1.53 meters wide and 1.44 meters high. According to its creators, the Luvly O weighs less than 400 kilograms and offers a range of up to 100 kilometers. Its top speed: 90 km/h. An empty battery pack can of course be charged, but you must also bring an empty battery with you. The battery pack consists of two suitcase-like parts that you simply pull out of the side of the car. According to the Swedes, you can easily take an empty battery with you home, to the office, to the cafe or to “[…] like, wherever.”
Despite its limited dimensions, the Luvly O offers a luggage space of a not too bad 267 liters. In the simple interior we see rubber bands on the dashboard where you can attach your smartphone behind, a small island of buttons and a digital display behind the steering wheel. The Luvly O’s body panels are made of “[…] a lightweight material” that can be easily recycled.
