Suzuki S-Cross and Vitara Smart Hybrid
The Suzuki’s S-Cross and Vitara will be available from July with mild hybrid support. This ‘Smart Hybrid’ drivetrain combines the 1.4 Boosterjet engine with an integrated starter motor and 48V battery.
The same mild hybrid powertrain as in the Swift Sport is now also available on the Suzuki models S-Cross and Vitara. In the SUVs, the 1.4-liter Boosterjet turbo petrol engine also receives support from an integrated starter motor when accelerating. That ‘ISG’ gets its power of up to 10 kW (14 hp) from a 48V lithium-ion battery. The ISG functions both as a generator and starter motor. In addition, it provides a higher maximum torque (235 Nm) at a lower speed than before.
The new powertrain, which Suzuki calls ‘Smart Hybrid’, can be ordered from the entry level Comfort. Nice is that this level with 1.4 engine comes with more extensive features as standard, including adaptive cruise control, climate control, DAB + digital radio, a rain sensor and LED headlights. You can also combine the Smart Hybrid drivetrain with AllGrip all-wheel drive. Finally, the higher Select trim level also becomes more complete. For example, it comes with the Safety System Pro that offers safety features such as blind spot monitor, lane assistant and Rear Cross Traffic Alert.
The Vitara Smart Hybrid and S-Cross Smart Hybrid will be available from Suzuki dealers from July. Prices will be announced before the market launch.
