Cupra christens its compact electric car Raval. The counterpart of the Volkswagen ID2All, among others, will go into production in Spain in 2025, and now we know what it will be called. Cupra has not yet announced more details about the car, but we expect similar specifications to those of the said Volkswagen.

Following the Cupra Urbanrebel Concept, the Spaniards today present the Cupra Raval. That is the compact electric Cupra, still in concept form, that shares its architecture with the Volkswagen ID2All. The Cupra Raval is one-to-one the same as the Urban Rebel Concept mentioned and the car shown is therefore not the same as the compact Cupra that you will see on the road from 2025. Assume that the interior in particular takes on a less violent form in the production version. In a sense, today we only get to know his model name.

Cupra does not specify specifications either, although we can guess thanks to the Volkswagen ID2All. Under the different carriages of the two, the engineering is similar, as they both sit on Volkswagen’s new MEB Short platform, the shortened platform found under the likes of the Volkswagen ID3. That architecture would be good for a range of roughly 450 km under the ID2All. The dimensions are probably similar as well. That is why we can already reveal that the Cupra Raval is more than 4 meters long, about 1.8 meters wide and 1.5 meters high.

In the production version we expect a much less intensely designed interior.

Raval

The Cupra Raval is named after a district of Barcelona and will go into production in 2025 in Martorell, Spain. It will eventually roll off the production line there together with three other models from the Volkswagen Group, namely the (to be renamed) ID2All, a compact EV from Skoda and a compact electric crossover from Volkswagen. We do not yet have information about the pricing of the Cupra Raval, but it is likely that the starting price of the Cupra will be slightly above that of the Volkswagen ID2All. It should cost about €25,000.

The Cupra Raval is not the only up-and-coming new car from the still fairly young Spanish brand. In the coming years it will also introduce the Tavascan and the Terramar. Two crossovers, one fully electric and one with a plug-in hybrid powertrain.
