1. Zoom in while watching YouTube videos
When watching videos on YouTube, it sometimes happens that you want to see something better. There is a handy function for this on YouTube, because you can zoom in when you watch a video. This way you can take a closer look at the cool shoes or the extensive menu that you see passing by. Or, of course, you take a closer look at the latest iPhone.

To zoom in, simply swipe two fingers apart on the video. It’s smart to do this if you hold the iPhone horizontally so that the video plays in full screen. Then swipe your fingers apart where you want to zoom in. With a YouTube video it is possible to zoom in up to 8x.
2. View Screen Time in the YouTube app
Do you ever wonder how much time you spend on YouTube in a week? You can of course consult the screen time of your iPhone, but the YouTube app itself also provides an overview of your viewing time.
This is just a little clearer, because you immediately see the hours you have spent on YouTube services. YouTube Music and YouTube TV are also included in this overview. To view the screen time, follow the steps below.
View watch time / screen time in YouTube on iPhone
- Open the YouTube app and make sure you’re logged in;
- Tap your profile picture at the top right;
- Select ‘Viewing time’ in the menu.
You can then see at a glance how long you have watched YouTube or listened to YouTube Music in recent days. You also immediately see how many minutes (or hours) that was on average per day for the past seven days.
3. Set a reminder at YouTube
Is the viewing time on the high side? Then it is wise to set a reminder to take a break. You decide after how much viewing time you get the reminder, so you avoid unintentionally spending hours on YouTube. Also useful if you take a break from work or studying, you will automatically receive a notification when your break is over.

The function can be found in YouTube’s settings under ‘Watch time’. By turning on the switch behind ‘Remind me to take a break’, you will automatically receive a message after a while that you have watched enough YouTube. When you enable the reminder, you have to decide for yourself how long you want to watch YouTube undisturbed before you receive the notification.
