Welcome xDrive40d
More engine news from BMW. The brand is expanding the international delivery range of the X5 and X6 with a second mild-hybrid diesel. We welcome: the BMW X5 and X6 as xDrive40d.
Earlier this year, the BMW X5 and X6 underwent a radical facelift by BMW standards. BMW tackled the two SUVs inside and out and are always electrified from now on. There was a new plug-in hybrid powertrain and every internal combustion engine now has 48v mild hybrid support. The updated X5 and X6 were already presented as xDrive40i, M60i, as a plug-in hybrid xDrive50e and as xDrive30d. There is now a second mild-hybrid diesel: the xDrive40d.
Just like the xDrive30d, the BMW X5 and X6 xDrive40d have a 3.0 under the hood, although that power source delivers more power with 352 hp and 720 Nm. After all, in the xDrive30d you have access to 286 hp and 650 Nm. Aided by the eight-speed Steptronic Spot automatic transmission, the X5 and X6 xDrive40d stomp from standstill to 100 km / h in just 5.5 seconds. The average consumption is 7.3-8.2 l/100 km. Prices are not there yet.
More BMW
The arrival of the new diesel engine to the X5 and X6 range is part of what BMW calls its ‘summer update’. For example, more models will receive BMW Operating System 8.5, including the 7 series, iX, i4, X5, X6, X7 and XM. BMW’s digital Intelligent Personal Assistant can now arrange more for you, including adjusting your seat. Also, it can now explain previously not used functions to you. Furthermore, the BMW X1 (and iX1) and 2-series Active Tourer are immediately available with new upholstery. In addition, the X1 and iX1 are now available with the M Sport Pro package and the 3-series saloon, 2-series Coupé and M2 are available in new colours.
