WhatsApp has released a new update, which includes the new Companion Mode. We tell you exactly what you can do with the new function.
WhatsApp introduces Companion Mode
Would you like to use your WhatsApp on multiple phones at the same time? Then there is good news, because WhatsApp has introduced the new Companion Mode. The new feature makes it possible to use the same WhatsApp account on multiple phones. This can then be done at the same time, without being logged out on the other device.

Before the update, it was possible to use your WhatsApp account on only one phone. It was already possible to use WhatsApp on multiple devices at the same time with WhatsApp Web. For this, your phone still had to be nearby, because WhatsApp Web does not work without the connected phone. With Companion Mode, this is no longer necessary: WhatsApp then works on multiple devices.
Pair new phone with QR code
Adding a second phone to a WhatsApp account is done by scanning a QR code, as is currently the case with WhatsApp Web. You then scan the code once on the other phone and you can then continue to use the WhatsApp account without logging in again. Only when the device with the original WhatsApp number is inactive for a longer period of time, the other phones are also logged out.
As soon as you have connected a new device, both the sent and the received messages can be seen on all logged in devices. This should mainly make it easier for companies to maintain contact with customers. A company account can then be activated on several phones, so that several employees can arrange customer contact.
Companion Mode already launched
The Companion Mode comes to your phone with the latest WhatsApp udpate. This update has now been released, so it won’t be long before the new feature is available to everyone. A WhatsApp account can be added to a total of four different phones after the update. Unfortunately, this does not yet apply to the iPad, you still have to use WhatsApp Web for that. Although there are rumors that an iPad version will be coming soon.
