Spread wings further
In Cupra, which is still relatively young, the trees grow into the sky, it seems. It spreads its wings further and enters the North American market. This news follows more good news for the Spaniards.
While the confetti is still surrounding the Cupra DarkRebel, which was unveiled last weekend, Cupra is announcing an important new step. It is now preparing for a brand launch in North America. “We have the ambition to truly become a global brand,” said CEO Wayne Griffiths during the IAA in Munich. “That’s why we’re gearing up to launch Cupra in North America. Our plans are turning out positively and I am convinced that we have the right strategy to make Cupra an American success story.” He just hasn’t attached a specific deadline yet.
The news comes along with positive results for the Seat-born brand. To date, it has sold more than 150,000 cars in 2023, a growth of 60 percent compared to last year. Operating profit also grew enormously, to €371 million, a record result. Here in the Netherlands, things are expected to be a little slower this year than last year. To date, 713 Cupras have been registered this year, last year there were 2,752 and that will logically no longer be equaled or surpassed.
