Honda shows details "E-Clutch" electronic coupling

The success of the DCT Dual Clutch Transmission E-Clutch, according to Honda, more than half of customers with engines that can be supplied with it opt for the DC~T version, has undoubtedly made Honda think about a different – simpler – way the same could not be achieved.

The new Honda “E-Clutch” is in fact an electronically controlled clutch, which according to Honda ensures that shifting, starting and stopping are smooth, without the rider having to use the clutch. It is allowed, but it is not necessary.

The Honda E-Clutch uses electronic control technology for instantaneous and sensitive clutch operation, allowing you to enjoy Honda’s optimum performance in situations where the driving force changes, such as starting, stopping and shifting. In addition, starting and shifting are smoother than with a manual, rider-operated clutch.

If desired, the clutch can be used in a conventional, manual manner using the clutch lever on the handlebars. This makes the system accessible to many different riders who, regardless of their experience level or skills, can fully focus on driving pleasure with increased comfort.

The lightweight, compact system can also be installed with only minimal modifications to existing engine configurations. Honda gradually aims to integrate the E-Clutch into their FUN engines.
