Subtly different, just as fast
The top version of the Mercedes-Benz GLA, the Mercedes-AMG GLA 45 4Matic+, now also benefits from the facelift that was previously announced for the lesser versions.
The GLA facelift doesn’t have much in it. We note differently arranged headlights and taillights and a slightly differently designed front bumper. This is of course different for the AMG models than for the regular variants, although it looks exactly like the one that is screwed onto a regular GLA with AMG Line package. The ‘real’ AMG distinguishes itself as before with the Panamericana grille – with vertical bars – but the milder AMG 35 with 306 hp also has this. The difference seems to be in the canards on both sides and the extra splitter at the bottom. The four round exhaust pipes (instead of two) and the larger roof spoiler also distinguish the top AMG from the sub-top AMG.
Also new for the facelift model is that the logo on the hood is replaced by an AMG copy. Previously there was ‘just’ a Mercedes logo here. The star in the grille can of course remain. The wheel arch extensions were previously black, but are now painted in body color. Of course there are new wheel designs and new upholstery materials for the interior. This also benefits from the arrival of a new MBUX infotainment and a new AMG sports steering wheel with specific AMG buttons for, among other things, the driving modes.
Nothing changes in the technology. As usual, the Mercedes-AMG GLA 45 4Matic+ has a two-liter turbo engine with a very impressive 421 hp, good for a 0-100 time of 4.3 seconds. The top speed is limited to 270 km/h. Prices are not available yet, but know that even a GLA 35 costs more than a grand.
