HBO Max is getting a total makeover in 2024, and unfortunately that doesn’t only have advantages: you need to know this.
HBO Max in 2024
The streaming service HBO Max has been around for a while in the Netherlands: since March 8, 2022 you can enjoy HBO series, films from Warner Bros. and cartoons from Cartoon Network. But a lot will change in 2024, the service will also come to Belgium, and the offering will be expanded even further.
This has to do with a switch that has already taken place in the US. HBO Max will now simply be called ‘Max’, and the films and series from discovery+ have also been added to the streaming service. This name change is not allowed in the Netherlands – Omroep Max already has the rights to the name here – but the extra content will come here.
HBO Max price in 2024?
The price of the new HBO Max is still a big question mark, although we expect bad news. The extra content gives HBO the necessary reasons to increase the subscription price, and it is also an opportunity to make people who have been members since the beginning (and pay only € 3.99 per month) also pay more. After all, you get a different service than before.
If we look at the prices in the US, where Max has already been launched, we also see a price increase. There is the subscription with all the bells and whistles, so with 4K streaming and access for four family members, now $ 19.99. That was previously $15.99. Well, we don’t think that the €7.99 you now pay in the Netherlands will suddenly jump to the American price, but a monthly amount of €9.99 is not inconceivable. For the time being you can still take out a subscription with the current price:
