Xpeng now unveils the X9 itself: a huge electric MPV

We have already shown you the Xpeng X9 from all angles, but now Xpeng itself thinks it is time to show it. Not quite yet, although we will find out more.

AutoWeek regularly manages to surface images of (often Chinese) cars from local databases well before an unveiling. We also picked up the Xpeng X9 there in mid-September. The large electric MPV therefore no longer has too many secrets for us. Now the Chinese themselves have brought their latest creation onto a stage. In a presentation by CEO He Xiaopeng, in which he praises his company to the sky like a true Elon Musk or Tim Cook, the X9 was shown publicly for the first time.

Unfortunately, Xiaopeng was still a bit sparse with his information about the X9, as the full unveiling will take place next month at the Auto Guangzhou car exhibition. It has already been announced that the Xpeng X9 has steering rear wheels as standard, is largely made of aluminum and is built on the modular SiC platform. The latter involves 800-volt technology and is the basis that Volkswagen will also use in China. Furthermore, the X9 gets a completely new infotainment system, or rather operating system. This goes by the name XOS Tianji and we will of course see it later on other models.

The fact that Xpeng has not released much about the X9 does not really matter. After all, we already know a lot more about the car. Not only photos of the X9 previously appeared on AutoWeek.nl, we were also able to share various technical data. For example, we know that the X9 is 5.29 meters long and has a wheelbase of 3.16 m. It weighs at least 2,560 kilos and in its ‘weakest’ form it has a 320 hp electric motor on the front axle. A four-wheel drive variant with an additional 184 hp engine on the rear axle is also in the pipeline. Here you can read more about the Xpeng X9, which may also eventually come to Europe.
