Apple is working on a completely new version of CarPlay, but little is known about the release date. Will Apple introduce CarPlay 2.0 this year?
Apple is working on CarPlay 2.0
Apple announced last year that CarPlay was getting a major upgrade. CarPlay 2.0 gets a completely new interface and takes over almost all screens of your car. With the updated version of the operating system, it is finally possible to operate certain functions of the car yourself. You will soon also be able to control the radio, temperature and air conditioning via Apple CarPlay.

This is not yet possible with the current version of CarPlay, as the operating system is now limited to the functions on your iPhone. With CarPlay 2.0, Apple’s operating system is much better integrated into your car. It has been a while since Apple announced the new CarPlay, but there is still no release date known. When will CarPlay 2.0 arrive?

New CarPlay coming ‘end of this year’
On Apple’s website we find a little more clarity about the release date of CarPlay 2.0. On the CarPlay page the company writes that announcements will be made at the end of 2023 about the vehicles that work with the new version of the operating system. This message has been available on the website for some time, making it almost certain that CarPlay 2.0 has not been delayed.
Apple usually keeps the information pages up to date, so a website is often quickly adjusted when a product or update arrives later than planned. The fact that Apple is still sticking to the end of 2023 therefore means good news for the release date of CarPlay 2.0. The development of the next generation of CarPlay has probably not been delayed and will be released soon.

Scary Fast event: no news about CarPlay
Apple is hosting another event tonight, but it’s unlikely we’ll hear anything about CarPlay 2.0 then. The new generation of the operating system will be announced at the end of this year, which is also the time when Apple will announce the release date. Unfortunately, not everyone will get CarPlay 2.0, because not all cars have support for the latest version of the operating system.
