Abarth Fastback

Abarth has a new model. The latest Abarth is a car unlike any other brand. Meet the Abarth Fastback, or Fastback Abarth as the brand itself refers to the car. You guessed it: that is a variant of an already existing Fiat.

Abarth only supplies its own dressy version of the electric Fiat 500e in the Netherlands. A sporty variant of the brand new Fiat 600e also seems to be coming under the brand name Abarth. Today we are introduced to an Abarth that has another combustion engine: the Abarth Fastback. The model may look familiar to you. The Abarth Fastback is therefore the alternative to the Fiat Fastback, which is marketed as a sportier model and is for sale in South America, among others. In the Netherlands you should not expect the Abart Fastback.

Fiat Fastback

After the Abarth variant of the Pulse, the Abarth Fastback is the second Abarth model to appear on the sales lists in South America. The scorpion stung Fastback has exchanged its Fiat logos for Abarth shields and written out the name of that sub-brand backwards. The Abarth Fastback has new and sportier-looking bumpers all around, two exhaust tips at the bottom of the buttocks, widened wheel arches, special light alloy and body-coloured accents around the wheel arches and sills. Abarth brightens up the interior with strips of carbon fiberlook and introduce red stitching.

You’d think the Abarth Fastback would be more powerful than the Fiat Fastback anyway, but that’s not entirely true. The Abarth Fastback has a 180 hp and 270 Nm strong blown 1.3 that likes both petrol and ethanol. Do you fill up with ethanol? Then that machine treats you to 185 hp. With this 1.3, the Fist Fastback accelerates from a standstill to a speed of 100 km/h in 7.6 seconds. This 1.5 is also available in a temporarily available sporty version of the Fiat Fastback called Fiat Fastback Powered by Abarth. However, that special flavor requires 8.1 seconds for the 0-100 sprint. In addition, this ‘real Abarth’ version benefits from other technical changes. This means it is closer to the asphalt and the suspension is firmer. Abarth has also made the steering more direct and revised aspects such as traction control. The Abarth Fastback even has a real Poison mode in which things such as the throttle response and power steering are set to their sportiest setting. In Brazil, the Abarth Fastback costs €30,140.
