Still 450 jobs left

The rumors about a major second round of layoffs at VDL Nedcar appear to be quite true. Another 2,000 people will leave in March, leaving a very small workforce.
More than 2,000 jobs will disappear at VDL Nedcar in March because the BMW Group no longer has its cars assembled there. Parent company VDL will thus eliminate the majority of the remaining jobs at the factory in Born, Limburg. Approximately 450 jobs remain, according to VDL in a request for advice to the works council.
It was previously announced that there would be no more work at VDL Nedcar for 1,000 temporary workers and 500 permanent employees. That was already almost half of the staff. The new layoffs are on top of that. Wednesday came through 1Limburg it has already emerged that the second round of layoffs in March would probably be a significant one. Not very surprising in itself, because there is still no major job for VDL Nedcar after the production deal with BMW Group. There is interest from ElectricBrands and Gordon Murray Automotive is also said to be interested. Last summer there was news about a possible deal with Schaeffler for the production of an autonomous taxi.
