Opel Combo

The Opel Combo has been a well-known name in the Dutch commercial vehicle landscape for years. The van has now been updated and, with its new front, fits in significantly better with the rest of the Opel family than the version before the facelift.

The Opel Combo has been based on many different models over the years – just like the Vivaro and Movano. For example, Opel supplied the Kadett Combo based on the Kadett (E) until the early 1990s. That car was followed by the first Combo, based on the Corsa (B), which appeared on the scene in 1993. There would then be another Combo that shared its base with the Corsa. From 2011 onwards, the Combo was little more than a Fiat Doblò with a mild Opel design sauce. The current generation Combo, which has been running since 2018, is a true Stellantis product that has the Peugeot Partner/Rifter, Citroën Berlingo (Van) and Fiat Doblò as sister models. Stellantis recently presented a bird’s-eye view of its complete facelifted commercial vehicle range and now it is Opel that is showing the Combo in more detail.

The optical differences between the updated Combo and the original presented in 2018 are enormous. For example, the Combo’s snout, which looks somewhat like that of the pre-facelift version of the Corsa, has been replaced by a modern front that allows the orderer to fit nicely among Opel’s younger models. The Combo now also proudly wears the Opel Vizor front, complete with a black panel between the headlights. Those headlights are completely new. We even notice influences from the lighting of the Experimental Concept in the LED extensions made up of horizontal stripes. The headlights also have – optional – LED matrix technology. That is also new. The Combo no longer has a large grille. Instead, the Combo now has two horizontal cooling slots, the bottom one being a lot larger than the one above it.

The interior of the Opel Combo has also been refreshed. We see a new digital instrumentation, a new steering wheel and a new 10-inch infotainment screen. The button island with which you control the climate control has also been renewed. This now has two toggle switches instead of two rotary knobs. Passenger car version Opel Combo Life will undoubtedly – just like before – have a different workplace again.

The updated Opel Combo will soon be available again in two lengths. You can also choose from two or three seats, although you can also opt for a variant with two rows of seats (Crew Cab) and therefore five seats. The electric Opel Combo Electric now squeezes up to 330 kilometers of range from its 50 kWh battery. 50 kilometers more than before. The electric motor is 136 hp and 270 Nm strong.

The updated Opel Combo and Opel Combo Electric can be ordered from the end of this year. Prices will follow.
