Apple apparently uses old parts for the iPhone SE 4, but that’s actually fine. But which parts are those?
iPhone SE 4 gets old parts
The battery in the next iPhone SE actually comes from an older iPhone. According to MacRumors, the iPhone SE 4 will have the same battery as the iPhone 14. Prototypes of the next budget iPhone had a lithium-ion battery with the serial number A2863. Apple has used this serial number before.
Old battery, but better
Various internal design documents also say the same thing. It is not surprising that the iPhone SE 4 uses old parts. And in this case it’s even better. Because the battery in the iPhone 14 is a lot better than that in the iPhone SE 2022.
The battery in the iPhone SE 2022 is 2018 mAh. The one in the iPhone 14 3279 mAh, so a lot better. By using old parts in the iPhone SE 4, Apple can also cut costs. And that of course works out well for a budget iPhone.

Even more will change with the iPhone SE 4. The new budget iPhone takes over the design of the iPhone 14. It also gets the action button and a USB-C connection.
The iPhone SE 4 is limited to one camera lens on the back of the device, but it will reportedly be a 48-megapixel camera. That is much better, because the iPhone SE 2022 still has a 12-megapixel camera. We now see the same 48 MP lens in the iPhone 15 series and the iPhone 14 Pro (Max).

It is not yet clear when the next iPhone SE will appear. Previously, the usually reliable Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo indicated that Apple had postponed the development of the iPhone SE 4. It is therefore expected that the phone will not appear on the market until 2024 or 2025.
