The brand new Volkswagen Amarok could easily have had an SUV brother. That has never happened until now. The design boss of Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles shows what design proposal was on the table for an ‘Amarok SUV’.
Albert Kirzinger – Head of Design of Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles – shares a design proposal for an SUV version of the Volkswagen Amarok on Linkedin. Such a variant of the previous generation Volkswagen Amarok never appeared and the new Amarok, which is now based on the Ford Ranger, is also only known as a pick-up.
The idea of an SUV version of the Amarok is not that strange at all. Autoland has several SUVs that are based on a pick-up. We mention the Toyota Fortuner and the Nissan Pajero Sport/Challenger. Ford also has such a model. For example, Ford has an SUV derivative of a pick-up on its international menu in the form of the Everest. That car shares its basis with the Ranger. Indeed, just like the Amarok recently.
Will Volkswagen come up with an SUV-like based on the Amarok? Never say never. In any case, Kirzinger responds under the photo he posted that he does not want to say anything further about it.
