Up to 403 km electrically

It has already been literally fished out of a canal and photos of it have leaked, but now Lancia itself is pulling the curtain off the brand new Lancia Ypsilon!
The brand new Lancia Ypsilon has unfortunately turned out to be a poorly kept secret for Lancia. The car with which Lancia is entering a completely new era and will try again outside Italy was already photographed at the end of last year when an uncamouflaged copy was pulled from a French canal. Then, last month, photos emerged from an official photo shoot that Lancia undoubtedly wanted to keep under wraps. The full unveiling of the new Ypsilon is still some time away, but Lancia is kind enough to give a big tip of the veil.
It now shares several photos of the Ypsilon, where we can really take a good look at the interior of the compact Italian for the first time. As became clear earlier, Lancia has also covered the base known from the Peugeot 208 and Opel Corsa with its own thick sauce on the inside. The most striking element is of course the ‘table’ that protrudes from the dashboard. You can charge your phone wirelessly on this (undoubtedly optional). We also see again that there is another kind of disk above the infotainment screen. It says ‘Sala’ and that is also reflected on the central screen. That, as previously explained, is the name Lancia gives to its ‘digital environment’ and it stands for Sound Air Light Augmentation. We are curious to see what will be possible with this in the future. Perhaps it also belongs to a voice assistant.
Lancia reports that we specifically see the Limited Edition Cassina here, a first series of the Ypsilon limited to 1,906 copies. Of course, that number did not come out of the blue: 1906 is the year in which Lancia was founded. It is clear that Lancia wants to emphasize its rebirth with this new Ypsilon by also harking back to the rich and long history of the brand. The leather upholstery on the ‘table’ and the lush-looking velvet seat upholstery are part of this special version.
On Valentine’s Day, February 14, Lancia presents the new Ypsilon in its entirety. In any case, the brand already reports that the electric version can travel up to 403 km with a full battery. That is not a big surprise, because the e-208 and Corsa Electric also drive about 400 km on a single charge according to the WLTP cycle. There will also be regular fuel versions of the Lancia Ypsilon with the well-known 1.2 (mild-hybrid) petrol power sources.
