Big problems if you have forgotten the passcode for the Apple Vision Pro, because you have to go to the Apple Store. This is why.
Security of the Vision Pro
The Vision Pro appeared in American stores on February 2 and the headset is extremely advanced. Apple has even come up with a completely new security method for the Vision Pro, because you unlock the spatial computer with Optic ID. The Apple Vision Pro recognizes your iris, so the glasses automatically unlock as soon as you wear them. However, in some cases you do need an access code for the Vision Pro.

In addition to Optic ID, the Vision Pro is protected with a PIN code. After five failed attempts with Optic ID, you will be required to enter the headset PIN. You must also enter this PIN code if you have just (re)started the spatial computer and if the Vision Pro has not been unlocked for more than 48 hours. Do you not remember the access code of the Vision Pro? Then it turns out you have a big problem now.
Forgotten access code causes problems
If you no longer remember the Vision Pro access code, it is not possible to change the password yourself. With your iPhone or iPad, you can connect the device to a computer and reset it to factory settings. You will then lose all your data, but you can at least make your iPhone usable again with your Apple ID password. With the Apple Vision Pro this is a lot more difficult.
You will need to go to a local Apple Store to have your Vision Pro repaired if you have forgotten the passcode. Employees there recently have access to an update that allows the Vision Pro to be reset to factory settings. This has made the process a lot faster, because for the update you even had to send the Vision Pro to a special Apple repair center.
New update for visionOS
In that case, you lost the Vision Pro for a few days, because the spatial computer had to be sent to an external location. Now resetting the passcode is a lot easier with the Vision Pro, but you still have to go to an Apple Store to solve the problem. It is expected that Apple will make resetting the Vision Pro a lot easier in a new version of visionOS.

There is therefore a good chance that an update for visionOS will be released soon. That is the new operating system, which was specially developed for Apple’s first spatial computer.
