Dutch people do not always go on winter sports trips with winter tires on their cars

In the Netherlands you do not have to expect severe weather conditions that require snow chains. If you go on a winter sports holiday by car, it might be a good idea to take a set of snow chains with you. It is important that you know how to get them around your wheels. However, more than 1 in 5 motorists do not know how to install it. This is evident from research by insurer Allianz Direct.
According to Allianz Direct, 22 percent of Dutch people do not know how to put snow chains on their tires. Obviously not a problem in the Netherlands, but anyone who goes on a winter sports holiday by car might do well to find out in advance how exactly installing snow chains works. It is at least as striking that no fewer than 12 percent of people who go on a winter sports holiday by car say they do so without winter tires. This is remarkable, as winter tires are mandatory in many countries in winter conditions.
More numbers? Do we have. According to Allianz Direct, almost a quarter of Dutch people (23 percent) will go on winter sports this year. Of these, 69 percent go on holiday by car. If we calculate the percentage of Dutch people who go on winter sports without winter tires, we arrive at almost 342,000 people on a winter sports holiday in a car without winter tires, based on a population of just under 18 million in the Netherlands. Hefty. 23 percent of Dutch winter sports enthusiasts who go on holiday by car indicate that they have experienced damage. As many as 17 percent have had a car accident on the way to or during their winter sports holiday.
