MacBook Air with M3: faster and with a surprising new feature

The new MacBook Air with M3 chip delivers faster performance, support for dual external displays, and a battery that lasts up to 18 hours.

New MacBook Air of 13 and 15 inches with M3 chip

Apple has announced a new generation of the MacBook Air! As expected, the MacBook Air 2024 is equipped with the M3 chip. The M3 MacBook Air is up to 60 percent faster than the M1 version and no less than 13 times faster than the fastest MacBook Air with an Intel chip. The M3 chip’s Neural Engine is also faster and more efficient, making the MacBook Air a good choice for anyone who wants to use AI applications.

Both the 13-inch and 15-inch models make the move to the M3 chip and retain the MacBook Air’s signature thin and light design. They offer up to 18 hours of battery life and have a beautiful Liquid Retina display. What is new is that both devices support a maximum of two external displays and have one to two times faster WiFi than their predecessors.

Aluminum housing in four colors

Both MacBook Air models have an aluminum casing and are available in four different colors: midnight, starlight, space gray and silver.

The surprising new feature of the two new MacBook Airs has to do with the midnight variant. It has now been anodized for the first time. This means that there is an extra layer to prevent fingerprints. A welcome improvement, because fingerprints are quickly visible on previous generations.

More speed in all tasks

The new MacBook Air has an 8-core CPU and support for up to 24 GB of memory. The M3 chip delivers noticeable speed in all tasks, from everyday activities to more demanding applications such as photo and video editing. In addition, the M3 chip is equipped with the latest media engine, allowing more efficient and higher quality video streaming thanks to AV1 decoding.

Good choice for using AI

Thanks to the advanced M3 chip with its faster and more efficient 16-core Neural Engine, the MacBook Air is a good choice for AI applications. This AI performance boosts both your productivity and creativity, including powerful camera features and text prediction.

Apps also use AI features. Think of automatic photo enhancement in Pixelmator Pro and noise reduction in CapCut. In addition, the MacBook Air also supports cloud-based AI solutions, for example with Microsoft Copilot for Microsoft 365, Canva and Adobe Firefly.
